Z.I.T went on a fascinating excursion last week. We visited Zanzibar
Stone Town (Darajani market) and Spice tour at Kizimbani (Badru Spice Farm) The
aim of this excursion was to give the students an insight into their heritage
and the cultural diversity of various communities living in different parts of
Zanzibar.
This visit will certainly help the students as they prepare for Exam
(Beginner Level).
Culture is not only learning about the historical
evidence of a civilization in museums, it is also learned by studying
socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and
the environment we live in.
The students visited Spice farm where they learned the history of
Zanzibar Spice and experience the cultivation and preservation of
spices such as ginger, clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon,
turmeric, vanilla, coconuts, papaya, chili, black pepper, jackfruit, cardamom,
cassava and oranges.
They asked a lot of questions about the Market and Spice and were also given
explanations on how the Market was built and why it was called “Darajani
Market”
In Spice Farm some students were able to smelled and test some of spices and fruits.
Finally, there was some activities such as poems, drama and Debate.
Everyone was very
impressed by this tour which was guided by on of Z.I.T’s English Teacher (Madam
Khadija)
Let’s pray for their
Exam.
