Zanzibar is among the poorest state in the world where more than fifty percent of her population live below the poverty line, orphans and the needy persons are rampant; and that the main cause of orphans and the needy as well as poverty is under development which can be expressed in terms of unemployment, underproduction, high rate of illiteracy, low level of Science and Technology especially to the youth students who misses opportunity for advanced secondary education

The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and vocational training and other education stakeholders strives to ensure and supported youths in different fields in order to promote life, including colleges such as;

• College of Art,
• College of Tourist,
• College of Health. etc.

Despite all these efforts taken by the Government, still the number of youths who miss opportunity for advanced secondary education are increasing, poverty and unemployment has become the major challenges to the youths which face them not to achieve their dreams.

 ZANZIBAR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is a well-established None Government Organization. which was formed in 2014 by young people after seeing that there is great importance to help youths who miss opportunity for advanced secondary education who are coming from vulnerable life for the purpose of contribute our experience gained from the external world and the development of science and technology, air our views and exchange our experience by providing them English Language skills and ICT skills to make them self-reliant and improve their lives without relying on Government employment and to tackle the challenges of life in such away they will help the Government in term of unemployment.

Since the world is in Science and Technology, it becomes so hard to be employed without having computer skill and ability of speaking English Language. Z.I.T association equips them with ICT skills creative Multimedia and English Language to improve their opportunity to the employment, personal confidence and general life skills. Z.I.T trains youths to be able to either to be employed or to have self-employment.

Considering the Constitution of Zanzibar of 1984 as amended 2010 and its various laws, give freedom of association with people with a common interest and shared goals is permitted by the laws of the State.

So to realize the Government's efforts to bring development to the construction of social interests of the people of Zanzibar, we have decided to use it to honor the opportunities presented by the Government of involving citizens and civil society to organize together to bring development.

A Short History:

The thoughts of initiating Z.I.T NGO all started 2012 When Mr. Jaku (Founder) who completed the training of Film and Multimedia at ZANZIBITS NGO Center for Film and Multimedia for a year and given the chance to train the following intake(s) where he spent allmost two year, recently he works at Melisha Media Production as a main Graphics Designer. He thought it is the right time to share his knowledge to the disadvantage youths after making successful research in both Islands Unguja and Pemba. As Results the Z.I.T NGO official opens its door 16th. 11. 2016 at Mwanakwerekwe Zanzibar.
