VOLUNTEER

As we always open our doors to volunteers and guests who would like to visit in our Association, this week, we had Volunteer from Zanzibar who shared knowledge than she has.

She started volunteering from 23rd – 27th of January 2017 where she taught the English Students Introduction of Phonology, this topic helps the students to try to speak as native English Speakers.

It was strange that the students learned English alphabets from A, B, C to Z like kindergarten but they came to realize the importance of learning English Alphabet and how they are pronounced. Asya also tipped the Student how to be good at English where she gave her experience direct to the students.

Zanzibar Information Technology and its all team would like to thank Madam Asya for her visit and help, also we would welcome everyone who would like volunteer or visit in our association.

EXAM

At the end of the Beginner level, sixteen students took an exam to evaluate how well they have understood the lessons so far. They took the exam in the morning and the results were given out     not long afterward.

The students were eager to take the exam and hopefully they gonna do good. They were pleased,  not only to have exam, but also because it will give them confidence to continue learning.

In the following day, the students had the second part of their exam (Oral test). Teacher Khadija is full responsible for both exam writing and speaking.

Next week they will be taught by their new teacher (Asia) the introduction of phonology and having some revisions for all topics they learned for beginner level. After all of this the students will get into another level (intermediate) where they will be at that level for three months. I know we are all waiting for results, they will be announced before completing the beginner level. The best student will be rewarded the mug which is printed Z.I.T logo. Who is going to win it?

I’m sorry Let’s keep in touch.

Excursion

Z.I.T went on a fascinating excursion last week. We visited Zanzibar Stone Town (Darajani market) and Spice tour at Kizimbani (Badru Spice Farm) The aim of this excursion was to give the students an insight into their heritage and the cultural diversity of various communities living in different parts of Zanzibar.

This visit will certainly help the students as they prepare for Exam (Beginner Level).
Culture is not only learning about the historical evidence of a civilization in museums, it is also learned by studying socially transmitted behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and the environment we live in.
The students visited Spice farm where they learned the history of Zanzibar Spice and experience the cultivation and preservation of spices such as ginger, clove, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, vanilla, coconuts, papaya, chili, black pepper, jackfruit, cardamom, cassava and oranges.

They asked a lot of questions about the Market and Spice and were also given explanations on how the Market was built and why it was called “Darajani Market”

In Spice Farm some students were able to smelled and test some of spices and fruits.
Finally, there was some activities such as poems, drama and Debate.
Everyone was very impressed by this tour which was guided by on of Z.I.T’s English Teacher (Madam Khadija)

Let’s pray for their Exam.
